DIY Project

Social distancing may be keeping you from going out and visiting friends and family, but that doesn’t mean that it needs to keep you trapped inside. With the warm weather approaching, this is the perfect time for some outdoor DIY projects and fresh air. We have a list of some fun DIY projects that can be found with materials you may have around your house.

4 Outdoor DIY Projects to Tackle

tree swing

1. Tree Swing

If you have rope, a board and a sturdy tree, you have the perfect setup for making a tree swing. All you need to do is drill a few holes into a sanded plank of wood and secure it with a rope. Hop onto a ladder and hang it on your tree, just make sure you use a tall and healthy branch. Soon enough you’ll have a great swing and place to hang outside.

2. Build a Raised Garden out of Wall Stone

Try building your own raised garden out of wall stone. If you already have a dry-laid stone in your yard you’re half way there, just add some dirt and flowers and you’re done. If you don’t already have dry-laid stone, don’t worry. You can get pavers, lay them in any design you wish and add some plants to spruce up your yard.

3. Build a Tiered Plant Stand

Are you looking to soften up a corner in your yard, but want to do something a little more special than just adding a single plant? Make a tiered plant stand. By taking a few pieces of wood board, stacking them into squares and nailing them together, you’ll add dimension and natural beauty to your yard.

4. Build an Outdoor House for your Pets

For all of you animal lovers out there, a perfect DIY project to take on is a home for your pet. You can easily make one out of an old plastic storage bin that you have laying around the house, this way your pet will be covered whether the weather is sunny or rainy. All you need to do is take the bin, cut a whole out on the side that your pet can fit through and turn it upside down with a bed on the inside.

Just because we are all social distancing, doesn’t mean that we have to stay indoors all day. This is the perfect time to add some personal touches to your yard that you can create yourself and be proud of. DIY projects are the perfect way to get you outside, enjoying some fresh air, and keeping you busy all while staying safe.
