Summer Staycation

With coronavirus still prevalent, travel is scarce and you may be itching to get away to do something different. However, you don’t need a tropical island or an expensive vacation to have the best summer. With a little creativity, you can have the most perfect summer staycation right in your own backyard.

How to Create the Perfect Summer Staycation

Host a Movie Night

All you’ll need is ample seating, a few snacks and a projector. Set up different seating areas all over your yard using beanbag chairs, blankets and lawn chairs.

Once you have that, find a big white sheet and hang it from a wall outside. Make sure it lays flat against whatever structure it’s being held up by. Then, find a projector. If you don’t have one, don’t worry. They can easily be found online or borrowed from a friend!

Finally, and most importantly, load up on some delicious snacks. Everyone knows that no movie night is complete without some popcorn and candy.

Plan a Barbecue

Although social distancing is very important these days, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a socially distant barbecue with friends and family as a fun summer staycation idea.

Setting up seating six feet apart, providing proper PPE equipment and setting the expectations that everyone will be following guidelines set by the CDC is the perfect way to host a successful barbecue.

Choose games that allow for people to keep a distance from one another such as cornhole or bocce. Then, choose your menu wisely. You don’t want your guests having to use their hands in order to grab food to eat. Providing individual bags of chips and preparing hamburgers and hot dogs and placing them on separate plates creates the perfect recipe for a fun and tasty barbecue.

Go Camping

Maybe you’re really just looking to get out of the house and need a change of scenery. Try camping in your own backyard. You can spend the night under the stars listening to the peaceful sounds of the great outdoors.

You can sit around the firepit and have a campfire, roast marshmallows and make s'mores. This can be a full family activity once everyone gets involved in setting up for your night outdoors.

At Nicolock Paving Stones we can provide you a space outdoors that you’ll never want to leave, making your summer staycation that much better. You don’t need to travel to a fancy hotel to have a change of pace. Check out some of our different designs and spend the rest of your summer in your own backyard.
